This site is designed to assist those unfamiliar with die cutting, but also contains information relevant to the general die cutting industry.
Die cutting, what exactly is die cutting?
Die or sometimes called die knife cutting and has been around for quite a long time, originally introduced for the footwear trade this system of cutting is now used in an incredible array of industries, mostly for the quick and cost effective cutting of flexible or semi- flexible materials.
Simply put, it is a blade which has been shaped to give a cookie-cutter effect on an industrial scale.
The blade is of made from much heaver and stronger metal than a cookie cutter but the principal remains the same.
Lay the material you wish cut (in a certain shape) down, then place the die-knife on top and press it through.
The main difference:- more force is required than you need to just cut cookies, so instead of your hand you would use a power press of some kind.
One such press is the M A Series III benchtop clicker, this machine (pictured below) will handle small to medium cutting, virtually any cutting up to A4(sheet paper)size, and for larger cutting applications there are Hydraulic presses of all sizes and kinds.
